The only other option was to rent a storage unit nearby, but that seemed like unwise stewardship. "It's cheaper to replace those belongings when we return to shore than to pay storage fees for several years," Gene assured me.****I sorted through closets, cupboards, and drawers. I donated and sold clothing, appliances, books, home decor, and furniture. Parting with my possessions came more easily than I'd expected with the exception of two items-our mattress and my favorite leather love seat.****The mattress was less than three years old and one of the best purchases we'd ever made. Its firmness helped me sleep well every night. The love seat was my sacred space-it's where I enjoyed my quiet time with Jesus, wrote my devotional blogs, and cuddled my grandbabies.
