They suggest places I need more description, flag areas where the pace lags or let me know when a character's motivation isn't fully developed. They also turn their eight eyes to typos. **Today I eagerly opened an edited manuscript that arrived in my email. I skinned through that chapters, and my writing buddy's note caught my eye. She had marked a section where I accidentally used capital letters for pronouns where the character referred to herself and lowercase letters for pronouns referring to God-the opposite from what I'd intended.****I made the corrections, grateful she'd caught my error. Then I chuckled. How like human nature it is to get everything backward! In my real life, esteeming Jesus isn't just a matter of capitalizing His pronouns.
