"Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed-not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence-continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose." - PHILIPPIANS 2: 12-13 (NIV)********"ON A recent vaction to Mississippi, my family visited a small marine mammal rescue center. We linger near the sting ray pool, giggling each time a ray passed under our fingertips. Two days later, we took a ferry to spend the day on a small nearby island in the Gulf of Mexico. As we walked the shore, we saw dozens of sting rays gliding through the water. We again lingered to watch, but with a different kind of awe and respect. Seeing the rays at the rescue center was fun, but observing them living and thriving in their natural habitat was much more impressive. ***The samwe can be true for our faith-it is meant to be lived out"in the wild." Church communities provide the equipping we need to do the hard work of living out faith in our everyday lives.***As we work out our faith-on the job with a challenging coworker, in our home with difficult children, in the doctor's office with an unwanted diagnosis, recovering from an addiction, or in whatever challenge we face-we can see God working to fulfill His purposes through us. Expressing our faith in church is one thing. "A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, Make straight in the desert a highway for our God." ISAIAH 40:3 (RSV)**********"WHO LIKES BEING CRITICIZED? I sure don't. Except by my friend Jen! **Jen has this way of ppinting our my faults that takes the sting out of it. She'll laugh when she hears about something I've done and say, "you are a piece of work!" or she'll say with a genuine grin, "You should come with a warning label!" *****This is her way of letting me know that I've done something that's more brazen or confrontational than I realized at the time. The key is the love in her response. It's what comes trough first. Her eyes smilie when she's giving me this feedback. Hers is an honest response to my honest way of being. This blend of honesty, love, and lightheartedness is probably why I can take the critique. Instead of triggering defensiveness, it gives me an opportunity to ponder my actions and wonder if I might try a different approach in the future.****As Christians, we're familiar with the concept of "preparing the way of the Lord." Jen's affectionate perspective prepares me to see something about myself that I wouldn't otherwise be open to seeing. Jen's strategy has taught me that when it comes to growth and change, love prepares the way.****And I know that Jesus is preparing our way with love all the time! Dear Lord Almighty, I humbly pray for my BFF Felice Adel who is now fighting stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. Please give her the hope and courage that she needs each day. Comfort her in her pain and bless her with healing - both bodily and spiritually. Please strengthen her faith and trust in You as well as her family especially her husband Rudy so that they will be able to carry the cross that they are all suffering now. Please have mercy dear Lord and let my BFF Fely heal from this sickness and surround her with the Precious Blood of Jesus so she will be able to bear her pain...through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures, made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore you to obtain for me healthy in all senses of the word grandchildren from my two children and their husbands. The answer to my prayer may require a miracle; even so you are the Saint of Miracles. Eternal Creator, in Your heavenly garden, everything is perfect and serene. It is peaceful and glorious as befits a Supreme Divinity beyond compare. I pray and hope that one day I may be in Your garden. In the meantime, in my earthly garden, I enjoy its beauty which I offer to You. Lately, my poor garden fell unkempt for various reasons. In Jesus’ name who reigns with You in Your heavenly garden, I beg, Abbā, help Chris and his team restore my poor garden. Let it, minutely, resemble Yours. Amen.
