Father James O'Shea, C.P.
Father James O'Shea, C.P. is the Second Consultor of the Passionist Province of St. Paul of the Cross. He was chosen to complete the unexpired term of the Second Consultor elected at the Chapter in May of 2006.
Father O'Shea is the son of Maurice and Jeanne Hoffman. He was born in Rockville Centre, New York on March 22, 1961. He professed his vows as a Passionist in Pittsburgh on September 8, 1985. After graduating from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut in 1983, and the Catholic Theological Union, Chicago in 1986, Father O'Shea was Ordained a priest on June 14, 1989 by Most Reverend Francis Mugavero, Bishop of Brooklyn.
Since his ordination he served as Pastor of Sts. Joseph and Michael, Union City, New Jersey and later, as a member of the community at Immaculate Conception Monastery, Jamaica, New York, Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Monserrate, Brooklyn, New York. Here he ministers to the Hispanic community, is an active member of Church Ministries United for Fair Housing and is Director for Lourdes Academy, one of the 22 schools in the National Cristo Rey School Network.
As a member of the Provincial Council Father O'Shea serves as Vicar for Province Planning, Liaison for the Passionist Volunteer Program and is the Local Leader for the community at Our Lady of Monserrate.
