For my recently departed father, Irving Altman, a devout Jew (Reformed) and past temple president as well as a Korean War Navy Veteran and a retired school teacher. He was a kind, caring man who used his intelligence and wit to help children as a Boy Scout Assistant Leader and taught us that aging is not for sissies. He was born on June 17, 1930 and died on August 25, 2014. I am his daughter and have done my best to follow in his footsteps as a union activist and mentor to many.
