"PHOTOS ARE PRECIOUS, BUT SOCIAL MEDIA has distorted the time-honored tradition of memory making for me. At some point I started to feel as if I were staging my life rather than living it.***Getting the family to all look at the camera for a few vacation pictures felt like a professional photo shoot. Relocating our fun a few feet to the left. Or having the kids strike a once-spontaneous pose for the fourth time. Or actually interrupting a magical moment to make sure I caught it with a smartphone. Ick. Let's not even talk about posting or answering comments. It had to stop. ***Most of our family, including our older kids, live a distance away, so social media does help us keep in touch, but I want to be present for the memories. Undistracted.***I've learned that no matter how many "likes" a post gets, my true audience of close friends and family is pretty small. They know me and like me, post or not, but ultimately, mine is an audience of One, who knows the hearts and stories behind the pictures intimately, without my having to post a single one. **Today, I still snap photos but not as many and not as staged. Dear Lord, I offer you this prayer, to help me with my current relationship situation. Please take away all the pain and hurt in my heart. Fill it with love, joy, patience, and understanding. Bless me and my partner, so that we may never surrender to whatever challenges that come our way. Fill our hearts with love for each other, and may you make each one of us realize each other’s worth. Please touch the heart of my partner and fill it with much love for me. Make our complicated relationship become uncomplicated. I seek for your mercy and blessing that you may allow us to spend the rest of our lives with each other. Please make this feeling mutual for both of us. Lead us not into temptations, especially during times of stress, feelings of being overwhelmed, and in situations/places that may lend to these temptations. Make us both seek and maintain exclusivity with each other in this relationship in our thoughts and actions and be honest at all costs. Let us look to each other for support and love. Guide us wherever we go. Always put us in each other’s heart and mind. Allow us to have spontaneity and romantic thoughts/ gestures towards one another. Make us unselfish in our thoughts and gestures towards one another. May there be truth and honesty between us even in difficult situations. May we verbally express our love for each other and our true intentions towards growing as a couple. Protect him from getting any viruses, other health issues, and colds during this time. Dear Lord please watch over my family. Provide them protection from those whom wish to do them harm. Provide peace of mind and guidance for my daughter in her pursuit to college. Protect and guide me at my jobs., and assist me with obtaining and maintaining financial growth and stability. Let truthfulness, justice, and the moral compass of others prevail for me and my family. Continue to provide protection, safety, health, happiness, love, and piece of mind to my family and me. Provide me the opportunity to grow my finances for the sake of my daughter’s education and towards my independence. Make her become more independent, grow cognitively, and prepare her to handle college and what life throws her way. Heal me from what ails me right now and get my body back to its healthy, skinny state. Help D.J.s body and soul heal that he may find peace with himself and his family, and help him grow his finances. Let there be authenticity, respect for me, truthfulness, sense of being valued, and genuine love in my relationship as that is what I am seeking and in need of at this time in my life. Help him have genuine show of appreciation for me, and be completely transparent and honest. Protect D.J. ,all my friends, family, and me from getting any colds and viruses. Heal those with the virus, protect those who come in contact with the virus, especially our healthcare workers, law enforcement, grocery/store and delivery workers, those with compromised immune systems, elderly, those with underlying health conditions, and military. Praise God for Jesus the Word made flesh. Praise God for both Michelle and Maggie who helped me to graduate from each of their programs. Praise God for healing me of the pain from dental problems. Lord help me to find the perfect dentist that will help me! Thank God for this community that helps me to thrive by bringing me the Word of God. God's Word is living and active, He is alive through his Word that became flesh and continues to dwell with us. Abba, Jesus, Holy Spirit I pray that Your Word falls on good soil within me so that I may produce good fruit a hundred, sixty, or thirtyfold. " Matthew 6: 14-15 (NIV)*********"GROWING UP IN A CHILDREN'S home and foster care left me with bad memories. For years I was haunted by nightmares about abusive caregivers. One night after a bad nightmare, I couldn't go back to sleep. Jesus, please give me peace, I prayed as I slid closer to my husband who was sleeping soundly. They can't hurt you anymore, I thought. But they were hurting me. I was still angry and bitter.***I walked to the living room as thoughts drifted back to my childhood. Overwhelming anger washed over me. The reality of the past was worse than the nightmares. Trying to shift my focus, I thanked Jesus for blessing me with a wonderful husband, precious children, grandchildren, many friends, and my church. Still no peace. I turned the television to a Christian station. A pastor was speaking about forgiveness. I'd heard such sermons, but that night the message was different. "Jesus forgave you when you didn't deserve to be forgiven. You must forgive others to have peace." ***So I prayed, handing over to Jesus years of anger and pain. That night, Jesus filled me with a sense of peace like I'd never experienced. The past finally had no control over me. Forgiveness didn't change my past, but it broth the nightmares to an end. I had peace. ***Jesus wants us to experience His peace and hope; even when faced with tragedy or cruelty.
