Jacqueline C. Perez
Lector
Jackie is a parishioner at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan where she has trained and served as a lector, eucharistic minister and hospitality minister. As a music minister she also serves as cantor and on occasion as director of music at Xavier and for other liturgical events and parishes in and around the New York City area. In addition to the St. Francis Xavier Choir, Jackie is a founding member of the Ignatian Schola (www.ignatianschola.org) and recently joined the professional choral ensemble group, Choral Chameleon (www.choralchameleon.com) under the direction of Vince Peterson.
Jackie is a Spiritual Director, trained in the tradition of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. As a Retreat Director, Program Planner and Speaker/Presenter, she has worked with the Jesuit Collaborative, various parishes and other groups in the New York City area.
Lastly, Jackie is a medical doctor specializing in Internal Medicine. She received her medical training at the New College of Osteopathic Medicine in Westbury, New York. And did her training in the Internal Medicine/Primary Care Residency Program at Saint Vincent's Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan. Jackie continues to this day working in the Community Medicine Department at St. Vincent's where she provides medical care to homeless men and women in various shelter clinics in Manhattan and Queens.
From December 2007 through May 2008, Jackie served on a medical mission in Malaysia. She volunteered for ACTS (A Call to Serve) – an NGO affiliated with the Jesuit Refugee Service that provides medical and social services for refugees primarily from Myanmar and other SE Asian countries.
