Stephen Fraser
Choir
Stephen Fraser, native of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, is currently assistant organist at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC and can be heard playing morning masses broadcast live on SIRIUS Radio. He is also acting director of music at The Church of the Holy Trinity in Manhattan, where he directs The Trinity Choristers, the church's outstanding children's choir.
During the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to New York, he accompanied The Cathedral of Saint Patrick Young Singers (CSPYS) at the organ during a performance for His Holiness at St. Joseph's Seminary, for which they sang one of his compositions: an arrangement entitled "Now the Green Blade Riseth". As a composer, Stephen was winner of the 2008 American Guild of Organists/ECS Publishing Award in Choral Composition for his choir anthem "Rejoice, the Lord is King", which had its NYC premiere at the St. Patrick's Cathedral that same year.
Stephen teaches choir and music theory to children grades K - 8 at the St. Stephen of Hungary School in Manhattan, and is a faculty member of the Yorkville Arts Academy, an after-school program for children who excel in the performing arts. He also recently joined the team at Musical Kids International (MKI), where he teaches French and is pianist for the Spanish pre-school. He holds degrees in music from the University of Toronto, the Eastman School of Music, and Yale University (Institute of Sacred Music).
